Practical Approaches to Disease & Emergencies

This presentation provides a practical, case-based overview of common corneal diseases and emergencies seen in general practice, including corneal ulcers (superficial, indolent, and infected/melting), keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), feline herpetic keratitis, corneal sequestra, and penetrating trauma. Attendees will learn to recognize red-flag clinical signs, apply appropriate first-line diagnostics and treatments, avoid common contraindicated therapies, and identify cases that warrant referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist.
