Canine allergic dermatitis is a common and frustrating disease that causes significant quality of life issues for the pet and caregiver burden for the owners. This lecture will focus on current antipruritic and antiinflammatory therapy for allergic dermatitis including better understanding where these therapies fit, differences in mode of action, and the concept of remission from itch. Common reasons for clients to be discouraged will also be discussed with suggestions on improving communication and collaboration.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the differences how JAKi, mAbs, and CsA function in regard to both itch and inflammation
- Realize the importance of what owners want: ease of use, quality of life and returning their pet to normal
- Understand the importance of caregiver burden in the treatment of AD/CAD
Speaker: Dr. Brittany Lancellotti, DVM, DACVD

Bio: Brittany Lancellotti is a veterinary dermatologist at Veterinary Skin and Ear in Los Angeles and the scientific program director for the annual Muller-Ihrke-Kwochka Dermatology Seminar. She graduated with honors from Western University of Health Sciences, receiving numerous awards. Her rotating internship at Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles was followed by a residency with Animal Dermatology Group, at which time her research was published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Lancellotti is the founder/host of Your Vet Wants You to Know, an edutainment podcast designed to improve pet owner knowledge, veterinarian efficiency, and treatment outcomes. Dr. Lancellotti is Fear Free certified and focuses on decreasing stress in patients, clients, and colleagues. She is an enthusiastic speaker and enjoys teaching nationally and internationally.
