This session reviews common presentations of osteosarcoma and treatment recommendations, then shifts into a case-based discussion of atypical presentations. We’ll cover decision-making beyond amputation, including extraskeletal locations, misleading diagnoses, and feline osteosarcoma. Finally, we’ll discuss how to confidently guide client conversations across options and goals of care.

 


 

Speaker: Evangelia Makrygiannis, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

Bio: Dr. Evangelia Makrygiannis is a board-certified veterinary oncologist who joined the Veterinary Cancer Group after completing her residency at the University of California, Davis. A proud South Bay native, Dr. Makrygiannis is thrilled to bring her advanced oncology training back home to Southern California. She has earned national recognition for her research on the administration of gemcitabine chemotherapy and remains committed to advancing cancer care for companion animals. Known for her compassionate and collaborative approach, Dr. Makrygiannis is dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships with both her patients and their families.
