Featuring:

Dr. Brook Niemiec, DVM, DAVDC, DEVCD, FAVD

Dr. Niemiec is a 1994 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Niemiec is a Board Certified Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry at both the American and European Veterinary Dental Colleges. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He is one of fewer than 10 veterinarians worldwide to hold all three of these certificates.

In addition, he is the Past President of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry as well as the AVD representative to the World Small Animal Association. He is also the chair of the WSAVA dental guidelines committee which developed minimal standards for dentistry worldwide.  Based on all these accomplishments, he is recognized as one of the leading authorities in veterinary dentistry.

In addition to his advanced dental training, Dr. Niemiec received extensive post-graduate training in the field of anesthesia, which helps to ensure the safety of pets in our care.

As an advocate for improved understanding, prevention and treatment of disease, Dr. Niemiec lectures extensively at local, national, and international meetings. He is also the creator and director of the San Diego Veterinary Dental Training Center (now the Center of Excellence).

In order to assist other veterinarians in providing optimal dental care, Dr. Niemiec founded the premier veterinary dental telemedicine website: vetdentalrad.com. This service provides dental x-ray interpretation and also offers instructional videos and educational posters.

Dr. Niemiec has authored or edited a dozen veterinary dental educational products. These include the definitive textbooks on veterinary periodontology (gum disease), endodontics (fractured and dead teeth), restoratives, extractions, orthodontics (braces), emergency dentistry and a color handbook on diagnosing oral disease. Dr. Niemiec has also authored numerous chapters in internal medicine textbooks as well as other dental books.

Dr. Niemiec has had the pleasure of providing high-quality dental care for the pets of Southern California since 1995, performing over 50,000 dental procedures. Although Dr. Niemiec is skilled in all aspects of veterinary dentistry, his special interests include endodontic therapy (root canals), periodontal therapy and surgery, dental radiology, and implant dentistry.

In his spare time, Dr. Niemiec is an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, fishing, skiing, and camping. He also enjoys time on the beach with his Labrador Retriever, Sage.

Dr. Erin McNally, DVM, DACVA

Dr. McNally graduated veterinary school from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After a rotating internship in emergency medicine and critical care in Massachusetts she returned to UF to do a residency in anesthesia and pain management. She completed her specialty training and became boarded in anesthesia and pain management in 2009. From there she moved to the Caribbean island of St. Kitts where she lived for three and a half years and taught anesthesia at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon her return to the United States, she moved to Hawaii where she practiced emergency medicine and anesthesia at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center of Hawaii for 7 years.

She returned to the mainland in 2020 to work as the anesthesiologist at an animal imaging facility in the San Francisco Bay area but soon realized that she preferred a slightly warmer climate. She migrated to southern California to work as the anesthesiologist for Veterinary Dental Specialties, where she has been since October 2021. She works primarily out of the San Diego and Irvine offices, but she does travel to the other offices for direct monitoring cases as needed and creates the anesthesia protocols for all of the patients after studying their medical records.

Dr. McNally enjoys surfing, hiking and spending time with family. She has one furry daughter, a corgi named Nai’a and recently welcomed a human daughter into the family.
