A discussion of feline diabetes, including pathophysiology, past and current treatment options, emerging therapies with a focus on SGLT2 inhibitors, and management of euglycemic DKA.

 


Speaker: Melissa Moya, DVM, DACVIM

Bio: Dr. Melissa Moya is originally from New Jersey and received her Bachelor of Animal Science from Rutgers University in 2012. She completed four years of veterinary school at Tuskegee University in 2017 and finished her rotating internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in NJ in 2018. She then finished a three-year residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University in 2021. She became board-certified in small animal internal medicine in July 2022. Dr. Moya has practiced as an internist in Woodland Hills, CA, and Oradell, NJ. She is very excited to be back in SoCal to offer compassionate and thorough care to her patients. Her special interests in internal medicine include gastroenterology, immunology, and nephrology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and cat, as well as leisure reading and exploring new areas of Southern California.
