Summary: This talk will present methods of minimizing surgical infection risk. It will discuss the rise of bacterial resistance along with mechanisms that contribute to the evolution of this problem, strategies to mitigate risks in the new environment, historical methods, and the modifications that should be considered to what was previously considered standard practices.

 

Speaker: Dr. Peter Vogel VMD, DACVS

Bio: Peter Vogel VMD, DACVS graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. He completed a surgical internship at the California Animal Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Larry Lippincott in 1991. Dr. Vogel completed a small animal surgical residency at UC Davis in 1994. Dr. Vogel is the founder of the Animal Orthopedic Center. Previously, Dr. Vogel was the founding partner of the Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital and the Co-Medical Director of VCA West Coast Animal Specialty Hospital. He is a sought after speaker, presenting talks both locally and internationally, including the World Small Animal Conference and many others. With over 30 years experience working with the veterinarians of Southern California, he is dedicated to providing clients and patients with an exceptional experience and high quality care and with providing primary care veterinarians with timely and informative communication and creating relationships that benefit our patients, clients, and the field we are so passionate about.
