Corneal ulcers are a common ocular condition in both dogs and cats and can become a very frustrating disease to manage when they do not heal properly. In this lecture we will discuss how to diagnose the cause of a non-healing corneal ulcer and treatment options once the cause is identified. Attendees will learn how to conduct a thorough examination of the anterior segment of the eye to identify the cause of poor healing, how to identify and treat an indolent ulcer (i.e. Boxer ulcer or SCCED), and how to manage infected ulcers given their high frequency of presentation in general practice and the need to treat them as an ocular emergency.
